Season 1 of Mission and Music comes to a close after eight action packed episodes. Scott and Kelly got off to a fantastic start interviewing tons of bands including Paul Colman and Phil Joel; both former members of the Newsboys. Mission and Music radio is a show dedicated to inspiring students to share their faith and live intentional and impassioned lives for Christ. Our top segments include, “Musicianary Minute” – a quick briefing at what our Musicianaries (Music + Missionaries) are doing, “iShare” – a moment with a leader, musician or other person of interest aimed at equipping students how to share their faith, and of course interviews with all kinds of artists and great music.
Looking ahead to Season 2, we aim to specifically interview others who have youth shows on our home station, WCSE. We are also gearing up for Overtime season and Scott and Kelly will be touring around the area, visiting local youth groups to connect them to this year’s vision for our region’s largest youth event. Several youth groups have begun booking Scott to speak too.
“Our goal is to build an incredible amount of momentum toward Overtime,” says Tom Miyashiro of f2fmi. “Students will have the opportunity to play a greater part in Overtime’s success by participating in our street teams, the 5 Friend Challenge, and Tim Byrne’s Skate Challenge [a skateboarding competition that we will be doing this year].”

Twelve24′s new EP, “Better Words” came out this week in the UK. This weekend, Twelve24 will be gigging at one of the UK’s premiere festivals of the summer, Soul Survivor! It’s a perfect opportunity for the band to get their new album out there. The long awaited album will have 6 tracks all aimed at giving the emerging generation, better words to live by. More specifically, redefining how they think of God and a better understanding of what God thinks of us.
“Better Words” is not available for North American distribution. However, it is available on iTunes here.

Anyway, I’m so glad you are here. I hope that this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship… [tear]
Your Friend,
Tom “the Bomb” Miyashiro
For thousands of years people have tried to imagine what God looks like. If you were to go to a museum, you would see thousands of images of how people pictured God in paintings and pottery; fragments of animal skins and engravings on pieces of stone. Yet, all of humanity in its search to get closer to their creator did not notice when God really did show His face.
Many have looked up wonderingly at the stars thinking, “God, if you’re there, then show yourself to me!” In the days before God revealed himself to the world, there were some that came very close to seeing Him. In the Bible, a man named Moses went up on a mountain to receive instruction for how to care for the people of Israel. When God passed by, Moses hid his face and in the process, caught a glimpse of the back side of God. Seeing God’s ‘hinder parts’ left Moses shining like a bright light… Imagine if Moses had seen His face! However, no one has seen God and lived to tell about it. For all those who have asked God to show Himself, He indeed heard every one of those prayers.
Two thousand years ago, God did something very unusual! He wrapped Himself in moratlity and came to earth to try and communicate a message to us. He walked around and talked like us, saw what we saw, and experienced the very same things we experience as human beings. However, the world did not recognize Him as God. People saw nothing particularly special about Him when He was walking down the street. He even performed many great signs and miracles to try and convince people, but they would not listen. In fact, they hated Him. They were angered by His message and they eventually killed Him.
This man’s name was Jesus. His message was that of peace, love and salvation! He was full of life and although He only lived into His early thirties, there had never been a man who effected the entire world in the same way that He did – past and present. Jesus called people to come back to God through Him. He told His disciples that if they wanted to see the Father in heaven, to look at Him. Friends, this is the good news today – if you want to know who God is, look at the man they call Jesus!
You might say to me, “Tom, that was two thousand years ago… way to long ago to make a difference in my life…” However, God is alot closer than you think. He does not work in time, but in love! He operates outside of the confines that we are restricted by, which allows Him to see all of us as we are without missing a moment in our lives.
The Bible says in John 3:16, “for God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not parish but have eternal life.” If you put your trust in Jesus and make a commitment to serve Him, He promises you not only a new beginning for your life free from the guilt of sin, but also the opportunity to seek His face and find salvation.
To sum up, consider these four points:
1. God loves you unconditionally.
2. You have sinned against God by going your own way.
3. Jesus died on the cross to pay for the sins you committed against God.
4. How will you respond? (Click here for more!)
Key Scriptures:
1. John 3:16
2. Acts 2
3. Romans 3:9-20
4. Romans 6:23
5. Romans 10:9 & 10
